Underwhelming Performance Against MFC CLUB 420 Results in 1-1 Draw

In a match everyone expected them to win, MFC Judge fell flat on Saturday afternoon in its matchup against MFC CLUB 420. Facing a team near the bottom of the table, with an objectively less-talented squad, Bailiff von Bailiff and the rest of the DG Gavelers expected a repeat of the thrashing the club inflicted on Palma Pandas FC.  But it was a thrashing that never came.

Not only did the thrashing not come, MFC Judge fell behind first.  In the 17th minute MFC CLUB 420 midfielder Derek Houlihan took a pass from Fahd Abdou, dribbled through the MFC Judge backline and smashed one past Áron Kókai to put MFC Judge behind 1-0.

Unfortunately for MFC Judge, that 1-0 deficit is how things would remain for most of the match.  It wasn't until the 78th minute that things would change.  Vicente Pardo found Krunoslav Marušić with a pass, with Marušić  speeding past the defense and muscling a decisive shot into the back of the net to level the score.  Unfortunately that is how the match would end, with the score leveled at one a piece.

"I can't believe it". manager Pieter van der Linden said after the match.  "No one who was on the pitch for MFC CLUB 420 would even sniff the bench for us.  Not one.   We did a good job getting balls on frame, a good job in the final third, and had a majority of possession.  It just wasn't our day.  I don't know why we didn't win, but if we play like this we will win a majority of the time."

Van der Linden was not wrong with his assessment of the match.  MFC Judge held 52% of the possession to the visitors' 48%, had 18 shots to the visitors' 8, and put 7 shots on target to the visitors' 2.  At the end of the day though, there is only one statistic that matters - the scoreline.  And on that statistic, MFC Judge was level with its opponents.

The lone bright spot of the day?  MFC Judge's rival, Inter Madrid, also tied.  The Bronze League table thus remains the same, with MFC Judge on top in a tight, tight race.
