In a rematch of their opening day's tilt, MFC Judge once again defeated Bären von Berlin MFC, once again with a shutout performance. With top keeper Áron Kókai resting, Matko Bralić stepped back onto the pitch and once again came away with a clean sheet. Granted he didn't have to make a single save, but still. A clean sheet is a clean sheet no matter how you keep it.
Doing all of the hard work on the defensive side of the ball was the formidable backline of Sadio, Felix, Velasco and Ødegaard. The opposition managed nine shots, six of which were on target. With each attempt though, one of the Deventer four was there to snuff out the danger. Velasco in particular had a strong first half, throwing his body around like a Kardashian and getting in the way of shots in the 31st and 39th minutes. On the day the club's defensive performance was truly something to behold.
Just as the defense was humming, so too was the offense. Jamie Thornton, one of the most underrated players in the league, finished the day with a brace and an assist. Isidro Sarmiento, his strike partner, though was the one to get the scoring started - taking only seventeen minutes to notch a brace of his own, with goals in the 11th and 17th. Perhaps the most satisfying aspect of the match for manager Pieter van der Linden, however, was that each of MFC Judge's goals came off an assist - in addition to Thornton, Felix, Marušić and Sanderson also tallied helpers for the home side.
"The way we passed today was magnificent. It is something we have been emphasizing recently in training sessions" van der Linden said "so it was nice to see it put into play today. We need to keep playing like this. If we do, the sky is the limit."
