MFC Judge Emerge Victorious In First-Ever Bronze League Match

Joyous scenes.  Relief.  Cautious optimism.  Those were the feelings that ran through the Berlin Metastadium on Monday afternoon, as MFC Judge picked up a win on the road - starting off its Bronze League season with a 2-0 victory over Bären von Berlin MFC.  "I'm happy that we started off with a win," Bailiff von Bailiff, head of the DG Gavelers told a reporter after the match, while bouncing uncontrollably.  "I sold my last Women with Weapons to get here, but it was worth it.  Anything to see the boys play."

The match started off quickly, with striker Isidro Sarmiento nearly giving MFC Judge the lead in the second minute.   However, Sarmiento's strike went JUST wide and missed the net by a matter of inches.  Where Sarmiento missed, however, Guy Sanderson drilled it home in the 16th minute.  Receiving a pass from Santos Urbina, Sanderson executed a beautiful strike to put visiting MFC Judge up 1-0.  The visitors had chances to extend their lead in the 30th and 40th minutes, but were unable - and so went into the locker room up a goal.

After the break, the battle continued as the sides went back and forth for just over a quarter of an hour.  In the 67th minute, however, Sarmiento's strike partner Elmar Jacobs scored a stunner to extend MFC Judge's lead and make it a 2-0 match.  This is how the match would end, with MFC Judge picking up the club's first-ever league win and keeper Matko Bralić notching his first-ever clean sheet.

"It was a great start," manager Pieter van der Linden said.  "It will be a long season.  We know we will have ups and downs and that things will not always go our way.  But this was a great way to start.  I want to thank Bailiff von Bailiff, Herrerr, and the rest of the DG Gavelers for their support today.  It means the world to us."

MFC Judge returns to action tomorrow, once again in league play and once again on the road - this time in Madrid, Spain against Apollo Support Group's Inter Madrid.
