CHAMPIONS!!! MFC Judge Lifts Cup in Inaugural Campaign

Published on 21 December 2023 at 22:02

As "PopoZão" blared from the Metastadium's speakers, confetti fell onto the pitch and the players celebrated.  In a title race that came down to the final day of Alpha 0.3, MFC Judge captured the Bronze League title after defeating Palma Pandas FC 4-0.  Behind a hatttick from Elmar Jacobs (who also captured the Golden Boot with his performance), a goal from Jamie Thornton and an all-around dominant performance from the rest of the squad,  MFC Judge finished the season with 39 out of a possible 54 points, two ahead of runner-up Inter Madrid.  It was a season to remember for Deventer, one that will live forever in the city's footballing-history.

DG Gavelers President Bailiff von Bailiff, the leader of the Bronze League's wildest, most passionate supporters group could only be pulled away from his celebrating for a minute.  Surrounded by a horde of women, all named Herrerr, von Bailiff had this to say:

"I am so drunk right now I will probably not remember much of this tomorrow morning.  But what I will remember is what I feel right now.  Not the feeling of having Herrerr I, Herrerr II and Herrerr III around me, not the feeling of getting bailed out of jail just in time to make it to the match, but the feeling I have seeing this squad dominate and lift the trophy.  It will always stick with me - just like the diseases I got from all the celebrations along the way."

Golden Boot winner Jacobs had this to say:

"I am great.  Really, really good.  I am glad I was surrounded by good players as well.  Just like Gabby Union's smash hit "Bring it On" was followed by an even better film, "Bring it On Again," I know the sequel to this campaign will be even better.  As good as I am, I couldn't have had this successful of a season without my teammates."

Manager Pieter van der Linden told reporters this after the match:

"I realy should get over and make sure Jean-Claude doesn't get into any more trouble than he already has.  But let me say this - as well as we performed this season, we still have more to accomplish.  Winning trophies is now in our blood.  We want to win more next season - the league, the cup everything.  We know the other clubs will improve and will be gunning for us.  But we will be ready."

Fans will have a chance to celebrate Saturday evening, when MFC Judge holds its victory parade and trophy celebration.  The route will travel past the iconic Toren Grote of Lebuinuskerk and will end at the beautiful De Brink square.  It promises to be a party fans will not want to miss.
