After a disappointing end to the IMFF Cup, MFC Judge needed to bounce back. And bounce back they did, in a big way - going into the heart of Yaoundé, running around the Metastadium with the energy of a toddler hyped up on one-too-many Pixie Sticks, and leaving with a 6-1 victory over Canon Yaoundé.
The match got off to a flying start for MFC Judge, even if the first goal came a little later. A 3rd minute strike from Isidro Sarmiento went just wide. Seconds later an error from Canon's keeper, Tiago Belarmino, forced a full extension save to keep the match scoreless. Winger Guy Sanderson came close to MFC Judge's first goal in the 8th minute, then Sarmiento had chances to score in both the 9th and 10th.
The barrage kept coming, as just five minutes after Sarmiento's pair of missed chances Just five minites later MFC Judge forced Belarmino into yet another amazing save. After Pascual Velasco's attempt was blocked in the 16th minute, Sanderson opened the scoring for MFC Judge in the 19th minute when he put a beautiful, bending ball into the back of the net. Not satisfied with just one, Sanderson hit a clinical shot in the 22nd minute for his second of the game. After MFC Judge failed to convert on several more chances, that is how the half would end - with MFC Judge up 2-0.
The second half was more of the same, with MFC Judge continuing to press forward with the attack. In the 51st minute Elmar Jacobs made it a 3-0 margin with his rocket of a goal. While Canon Yaoundé pulled one back in the 55th minute to cut the lead to two, the rest of the match was all MFC Judge. Jacobs added his second goal in the 75th minute, Sarmiento got on the board in the 79th minute, and Sanderson completed his hattrick in the 87th minute.
In the end, it was a match of utter domination for MFC Judge, as they held 53% of the possession, had 29 shots to the opposition's ONE, and as they won eight corners.
The win keeps MFC Judge atop the Bronze League table. With just a few matches left, the title race is becoming clearer - and MFC Judge remains firmly in the thick of things.
