"Rock Bottom" - MFC Judge Shutout, Drop Two in a Row

"Disaster."  "Disappointment."  "Scandalous."  "Worse that 'Gigli.'"  Those were some of the things overheard in MFC Judge's locker room after the latest day's results.  For a group stage that started with such promise, things have taken a disastrous turn.  Not only did MFC Judge drop both matches, it did so in humiliating fashion - failing to score a single goal.

The first match saw MFC Judge face off against Quito Goldfeathers.  It was never expected to be an easy match, but it was expected to be a close one after the clubs' first meeting ended in a 4-3 win for MFC Judge.  Ultimately, however, that was not the case for this go-around.

In the first half MFC Judge had chances in the 18th, 27th, 29th, 32nd, and 33rd minutes, but were somehow unable to convert a single one of them.  Luckily, though, Quito was also unable to convert and the teams went into the break knotted up 0-0.

Though the first half was promising, the second was anything but.  After 21 scoreless minutes, diminutive striker Justo Videla put one past keeper Matko Bralić to give Quito the lead. Videla would strike again less than ten minutes later, slotting home his second goal of the match in the 75th minute.  That 2-0 margin is how the match would end - despite MFC Judge putting up 13 shots to Quito's 5 and winning 5 corners to Quito's 1.

As bad and as frustrating as the first match of the day was, the second was even worse.  Facing a Medellín Marauders side it'd tied 1-1 in its first matchup, MFC Judge came out flat - garnering just 41% of the possession, giving up three goals and once again failing to find the back of the net a single time.  In the end, it was another shutout loss - 3 to 0

"Something is off.  I know these matches are tough, but we need to do better. We expect better of ourselves.  For the people of Deventer, for DG Gavelers, and for our own pride" manager Pieter van der Linden vented after the match.  "We will regroup for tomorrow, examine everything from top to bottom, and work to reach the standards we hold ourselves to.  This is a project I believe in and know can succeed."

Though the pair of losses drop MFC Judge into fourth place in the group, they are still only a point out of second - so nothing is decided as of yet.
