Another Frustrating Day Sees MFC Judge Draw Again, Drop to Second in Group

In what has become an annoying pattern as of late, MFC Judge's latest match in the preseason tournament group stage ended the same as the club's last two matches - in a 1-1 tie., this time against Montréal Forest.

"I don't know what is happening.  We get the ball in good positions, but we just can't get the ball in the back of the net.  It's almost like there's a wall there at the moment" forward Guy Sanderson commented after the latest draw.  "Whatever it is, we need to find a way to start banging them in.  That's the only way we're going to advance.  We have to make the change - and fast."

There was anything fast about the match's first half, as the first 45 minutes ended without any goals.  Isidro Sarmiento had a few great chances - including one less than 30 seconds into the match - but was unable to convert.  Sanderson also had several shots for MFC Judge, but like his teamate could not put any of them into the back of the net.   As he has throughout the group stage, MFC Judge's netminder - Matko Bralić - kept the club in the game with a series of acrobatic saves.

The second half started with a great deal of promise, as just four minutes after the break Sarmiento received a beautiful pass from Elmar Jacobs, broke free and scored the first goal of the match.  Unfortunately, however, Forest would answer back almost immediately when Swedish midfielder Klas Hassel broke through MFC Judge's backline to level the score at 1-1.  Jacobs and Sanderson would each have chances to put MFC Judge back in front, but were unable to do so.

Along with the day's other results, the tie drops MFC Judge to second place in Group 4.  The club is still the only one in the group without a loss, but will need to turn the tide if they hope to advance.  They will get a chance to do just that tomorrow, with another MFL doubleheader.  The early match will see them play Quito Goldfeathers, while the later match will see them battle Medellín Marauders.  MFC Judge defeated Quito 4-3 in its first match of group play, while it tied Medellín 1-1 n the clubs' first matchup.
