Getting Ready for Alpha 0.3

As the start of Alpha 0.3 approaches, the staff at MFC Judge has been been busy - scouting players, filling out the roster, and organizing friendly matches.  With the team building towards its inagural campaign, a cautious sense of optimism permeates the grounds.

"The boys have been playing well," captain Øystein Ødegaard said.  "We're coming together, learning each others' tendencies, and forming a shared identity,  We know it will be tough, but we feel like we have the quality to do great things.  This is a project that the whole of Deventer can take pride in."

With no official competitions taking place since the club's founding, friendly matches have been the order of the day.  Though the fluid nature of preseason limits the insights that can be gained, the team's identity is taking shape.  "There is a way we want to play.  An approach we want to have to this project.  We're not there yet," manager Pieter van der Linden said. "The boys have all been responding well in training.  But its a journey.  I know that we have the whole of Deventer behind us.  I know that the Gavelers will bring the energy and passion.  But it will take time."

With the start of Alpha 0.3 just days away, the club has also committed to take part in the prestigous pre-season tournament.  "We don't know who we're going to play yet or exactly what to expect.  We don't know where we're going to travel.  But we believe that our quality will see us through.  No matter what happens, we will make Deventer proud," said enegmatic Colombian forward Isidro Sarmiento. "Our frontline will put the ball in the net and Øystein and the rest of our backline will keep other teams from doing the same."

Many things are up in the air - but one thing is for certain.  Alpha 0.3 will be a season to remember for MFC Judge, the Gavelers and the rest of the city of Deventer.
